The brand builds upon beachside, dockside and poolside fashion and accessories for every woman and man.

Artiss Akarra is literally on a roll.  He has designed and has opened what is likely the only mobile boutique in New England, and perhaps the Northeast.  Beautifully adorned by images of models in his swimwear and sunglasses on both sides of the truck The Mobile Showroom & Boutique aims to create the intimacy of a personalized shopping experience. The presence of his company EIGHT | United Republic Affair is tangible and on wheels, and will be serving customers at the Providence Flea Market and other locations in the Creative Capitol through the warm months.  The mobile boutique seems emblematic of a creative person whose vision is big, bold and outside the box.

Figuratively, too, the designer has been on the move, and his presence has been felt abundantly in the last couple of years in the region.  The RISD graduate has worked for over 15 years as an independent designer working for national and international brands.  Since launching his own line of luxury swimwear and eyewear under his company EIGHT | United Republic Affair, he has shown in StyleWeek August 2014 and StyleWeek April 2015, as well as both StyleWeek SWIM runway fashion shows, both the original SWIM at the opening of the Providence G Rooftop and this year’s show at the Hotel Providence.  Building from his core lines of swimwear and eyewear, Akarra plans to broaden his collections to include jewelry, footwear and different kinds of apparel.  The designer gives the sense that his design ideas are only limited by the physical restraints of production – his creativity seems driven by an unstoppable energy.  If you’d like to learn more and/or keep up-to-date with the designer follow him on social media and the brand website at eightunitedrepublicaffair.com.
