Revitalized and Reinvented Socials, New life to old traditions Providence RI

Revitalized & Reinvented! The Life of our Dance Socials

Our socials are not NEW folks! they are just revitalized and reinvented, breathing purpose and traditions in our city, all at the same time giving off an effervescent sparkle back into the lives of our dancers and re-inspiring our dance leaders/dance pros in our dance scene in Providence RI.

Dancers Valquiria Dos Santos (PS Dance Co.) and Emmanuele Reynoso

Dancers Hector Solis (TFRI Dance Pro) and Thalia Batista

We all can agree that dance be it infused with Salsa, Mambo, Bachata, Tango, Zouk or Kizomba can have many purposes including personal expression, education, therapy, recreation or entertainment and may function in many personal, social, political and spiritual environments.

As dancers we value dance as an expressive and bonding experience, creating well developed systems of socialization and interaction. These forms have survived for many years and continue to preserve all practices of the history of what is now our Providence social dance scene. A scene thats taken its time to evolve and change, (for the better). We are proud of how far we have come, recently these past 3 years, as collaborations have formed, ideas have been implemented and entities within our scene have much improved.

Dancers, Martin Rivera (TFRI Dance Pro) & Christopher DaCosta

Dancers, Mori Granot-Sanchez (TFRI Dance Pro) and Ivannia Zepeda of Brown University Salsa Club

We continue on our path to lead by example, to support one another as best as we can, always displaying the upmost respect to someones craft and vision, showing much admiration to the work that is put into keeping music and dance alive. The efforts do not go unnoticed.

A supportive mindset mixed in with music and dance preservation within our community is key to interculturally display the best of our people and of our creative events.

Lets not forget where we were before and how dismantled and saturated things were due to heavily fueled fear, disrespect and ego driven attitudes. The fact that we have shifted away from that is truly admirable. We have embraced the indifferences, ruled out the prejudices, and casted out the labels, because in the end aren't we all Dancers on the dancer floor and isn't dance a social art form.
